Fantastic journey

I've never ridden on this line in real life, so seeing it from the drivers cab was very interesting.

The train starts from the busy station of East Croydon, travelling fast through station en route to Hurst Green where the line to East Grinstead diverges away to our right and we leave third rail electrification behind.

At Hever, the double track section becomes single track and there are two passing loops at Ashhurst and Crowborough.

There is plenty of evidence that the line was always double track and you can see portions of the abandoned second track which has been left in places between Ashurst and Eridge and also Buxted and Uckfield.

The Spa Valley Railway did not begin operations into until 2011, but you can make out the old junction from where trains from Tunbridge Wells joined the Oxted line.

This is a fantastic DVD and it is very well produced. I am proud to have this one in my collection and give it a 10/10
